Slide Highlights Evely Farm, Stockbridge, UK
Evely Farm was, when built in 2015, the biggest solar park in the UK with a capacity of 50MW across more than 85 hectares of low graded farm land. This large project connected to the electricity network at a voltage level of 110 kV and required the construction of a completely new high voltage substation over more than a year. It was a landmark project for Kronos Solar and underlines Kronos Solar’s ability to realize utility scale projects and complex grid connections at high voltage levels.
Slide Highlights Whitland Solar Park, Camarthenshire, Wales Whitland Solar Park was Wales’ largest Solar Park when realized in 2014 with 21 MW. The Project was the first and a landmark development in this region, particularly for the political side. It involved a complex multi-stakeholder management approach, eventually bringing together the local community, politics and the local and provincial administration. It was the starting point and the enabler for a substantial series of solar park developments in the Welsh Province Camarthenshire. Slide Highlights Zuidplas, South Holland, Netherlands The Zuidplas project, built in 2019 with 13 MW across 22 hectares was the first Pilot Project of the Dutch Province of South Holland, close to Rotterdam. It was the test for the Province for a wider series of utility scale solar developments and Kronos Solar was selected as a reliable, experienced and capable partner for the pilot. Kronos executed the complete project lifecycle, from origination, development, construction, financing and finally asset ownership. Located below sea level, it was a very challenging project with wet ground conditions that required highly competent engineering in the grounding and technical set up of the system. Slide Highlights Canworthy Water, Launceston, UK The Canworthy Water Project, running at 41 MW across approx. 70 hectares, developed and built between 2013 and 2015, is the largest Solar Park of Cornwall, UK. The complexity of the projects stems not only from its sheer size, it includes a satellite location of 10 hectares, which needed to be built and connected in parallel. The project provides for a multi-land-use, whereby the land is grazed by sheep, a frequent land use in Cornwall, in parallel to the land use for the production of green power. The Project was the first of its kind in Cornwall to connect on 110kv High Voltage lines. Slide Highlights Til-Chatel, Cote D’or, France The Til-Chatel project, 20MW to be built in 2021, is a perfect example for a close and productive collaboration of the Solar Park Developer, Kronos Solar, and the local Municpality. The Municipality, being the owner of the land, initially foresaw the land for an industrial use, yet subsequently saw a significant value in making eligible land available for the creation of Renewable Energy. The project, to be built in 2021, will apply an efficient and productive use of the land of 20 MW on only 19 hectares. A very complex glint and glare assessment accompanied the project Development, resulting in an amendment of the Modules orientation (tilt) in order to protect the local airport from any impacts. Slide Highlights Hoogeveen, Drenthe, Netherlands The Hoogeveen Project was built in 2020 with 24MW over 22 hectares of land. The project, led by Kronos across the complete project lifecycle from origination to asset ownership, involved a complex project management approach, due to a sensitive archaeological situation, which required the grounding of modules partly on concrete shoes and a construction management approach that was as little ground intrusive as possible. The project involves a wide series of ecological measures to support a rich fauna and flora at the site. The combination of partial sheep grazing, wild flower seeding, the planting of rare plants, and the introduction of bee hives creates a wide set of benefits to complement the use of the land for a solar park.
